The most famous opportunity spotter in the automotive industry is undoubtedly Henry Ford. At a time when others were focusing on the technical improvement of cars, his idea of introducing a assembly line method in the automotive industry came into play. As later developments showed, it was enough to conquer the world. Without contributing to the technical development of cars, Ford decisively changed the automotive industry as a manufacturing industry. The car became a commodity.
What do we have to learn from this?
Henry Ford has told journalists that the big question was not when would they start production but what kind of product they could produce better than everyone else. And whether they can do it at a low price. The low-priced does not mean cheap, but producing in a cost-effective way.
